Workshops and Training
Center for Spectrum Services offers workshops and trainings on numerous topics relevant to professionals, paraprofessionals, and parents.
Workshops are conducted by seasoned professionals in the autism field, including psychologists, clinical social workers, speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and behavioral specialists.
Professional & Para-Professional Trainings and Workshops
These classes include several courses for the educational professional, such as our month-long Summer Autism Institute, Fall and Spring Workshop Series, and our NYS Autism Certification Course, which is approved by the NYS Department of Education, and designed to provide an introductory overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders and effective treatment practices. We also offer The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Course, a six-hour training in harassment, bullying, cyberbullying and discrimination in schools, emphasizing prevention and intervention, and approved by the New York Stated Education Department.
Our Training Professionals Come to You
Our expert trainers are available to come to your facility to train your staff in many areas of working with children on the Autism Spectrum. From enhanced communication skills to educational approaches, from sensory integration to helping students on the spectrum prepare for college, can all be conveniently conducted right at your own facility.
Parent Trainings and Workshops
At Spectrum Services, we believe that parents must be partners in their child’s educational program. For this reason, we offer Parent Support and Parent Workshops free for any parent of a child with a developmental disability. Funding for coursework and childcare is provided through grants from the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.
