Referrals

We welcome questions about our program from concerned parents, physicians or other professionals. When appropriate, we share information on procedures and regulations governing Early Intervention, preschool or school age special education services in New York State.

  • Referrals for school age children are accepted from the child’s home school district Committee of Special Education.
  • Referrals for preschool age children (ages 3-5)  are accepted from the child’s home school district Committee on Preschool Special Education.
  • Referrals for Early Intervention children (birth-3) are accepted from the Early Intervention Official in the child’s county of residence. Decisions about a child’s suitability for admission into our center-based programs are made by the Spectrum Service’s admissions team after receipt of educational and medical records, the review of current evaluative information, interviews with families, and observations of the child in school or home settings.
