Susan Buckler MA, CAS

In 1976, Susan co-founded Center for Spectrum Services with Jamey Wolff in the basement of a church in Woodstock, New York. Originally named The Children’s Annex, the program began with three students. Under Susan’s leadership as Administrative Director, Spectrum Services has grown from a one classroom program with an initial annual budget of $10,000 to a multi-program agency with an annual budget nearing $10,000,000 serving 35 school districts in seven counties in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Susan received her BS from Boston University, her MA from Teachers College at Columbia University, a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from New York University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY New Paltz.

In her role at the Center for Spectrum Services, Susan coordinates and supervises agency business operations, including financial planning and budgeting, debt service and capital funds, legal matters, and relations with governmental agencies. She oversees planning, repairs, maintenance, and construction for all agency buildings. Susan oversees agency insurance in all areas: liability, directors and officers, fiduciary, workers compensation and disability. She supervises the hiring and supervision of administrative, human resources, building services and food services staff.

Susan received recognition of her years of community service in the Mid-Hudson region with receipt of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce Heart of Ulster County Award and the Distinguished Services Award from Speech and Hearing Association of the Hudson Valley. The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) nominated Center for Spectrum Services as a School of Excellence.

Susan appreciates the many volunteers who have served on the Board of Trustees over the decades. She is grateful to the numerous businesses, individuals, and foundations who generously support the students and the programs at Spectrum Services.
