Teaching Children with Autism at School and at Home

October 23, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Why we teach the way we do, and how parents can help with strategies for home
Presented by Christina Rutella, MS Ed. Spectrum Services’ Teal Class Special Educator
Registration Required (see below)

At Spectrum Services, our teaching methods can help your child to learn new skills, use more language, reduce challenging behaviors, and develop play and social skills.  It is important for parents to have an understanding of this teaching method and ways to support their child’s educational program in the home. This workshop will give an overview of some of these educational principals that span over thirty years of research, and are considered some of the most effective teaching methodologies for children with autism. We will review basic teaching procedures, reinforcement, errorless learning, prompting techniques, Verbal Behavior/Applied Behavior Analysis terminology, and simple techniques and activities that can be used at home.

This workshop will be available online and live through Go To Meeting application.

Free Childcare is provided for Spectrum Services students, siblings, and alumni.

To register, please contact Leah Siuta at lsiuta@centerforspectrumservices.org, or calling 845-336-2616 Ext. 120.
