DIRECTOR OF FOUNDATION & DEVELOPMENT
The Director of Foundation and Development will be responsible for implementing the Strategic Plan for Spectrum Services Foundation, Ulster County, New York. Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the Development Director will be responsible for achieving the Foundation’s fundraising goals and leveraging key relationships locally, regionally and nationally. The position is paid 30 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Lead and manage the Foundation’s overall development efforts. • Implement the Foundation’s multi-year strategic plan for the development of the vision and mission of Spectrum Services Foundation, including the development of annual and long-term fundraising objectives, working closely with members of the Foundation Board, members of the Center of Spectrum Services Board of Trustees and administrative staff. • Train Board members, volunteers and staff to support fundraising and marketing efforts. • Cultivate and nurture relationships with previous, current and potential corporate and foundation sponsors and individual donors; cultivate major gifts. • Engage in regular solicitations of past, present and prospective donors, corporate sponsors, politicians and philanthropists. • Within the first 15 months, focus on meeting the fundraising goal of $250,000 for capital improvements, operating expenses, Staff Support Fund and other needs as identified. • Represent the Spectrum Services Foundation in the greater Hudson Valley, including speaking engagements, Chamber of Commerce functions, and major events • Propose, implement and monitor Foundation budget. • Identify and cultivate additional sources of income including corporate contributions, foundations, grants, and other organizations/individuals. • Work with administrative staff and Foundation Board to plan, problem solve and develop a multi-disciplinary team approach to accomplish development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities essential with excellent public speaking skills • Ability to engage others in active participation of the Foundation mission • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets • Proven management and leadership capabilities • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative. • Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and thorough understanding of strategic development • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new relationships • Strong partnership-building and event planning skills • Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base • Flexible schedule with the ability to attend early morning and evening meetings and weekend events. • Two or more years experience in public relations, development and/or fundraising.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES • Collaborate in the coordination of the activities of the Foundation Board. • Collaborate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy. • Attend meetings and committee meetings of the Foundation Board. • Collaborate with Development Office Coordinator. • Knowledge of data base programs. • Meet with support staff as needed. • Adhere to policies in the Staff Handbook and Human Resources Manual and other handbooks pertinent to the functioning of the position.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelors Degree in a related field. prior work in administration management in a leadership position
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ABILITIES: Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Able to travel as needed.

Speech Language Pathologist/Therapist
We have full time openings in Kingston and Ellenville for summer school and 2010-2011 school year for Speech Language Pathologist/Therapist to join our team of dedicated professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The successful candidate will provide direct therapy in accordance with each student’s IEP, evaluate communicative status, consult with classroom staff, prepare lesson plans, maintain quantitative/qualitative data, and write quarterly updates of goals and objectives.
The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, coworkers, families and school district personnel. We provide quality training, a supportive work environment, and supervision.

Substitute Teacher Aides
Substitute teacher aide positions are a great opportunity for those interested in human services or education. Aides work in a classroom under the direct supervision of a Special Education Teacher to provide instruction to students. Both full-time and part-time positions are available and we offer a flexible work schedule. Experience is helpful but not required. Ongoing in-service training is provided.

Our related service staff plays a key role in the lives of the children attending the Center for Spectrum Services. Each therapist provides direct therapy to students, consults with staff, maintains log notes, and writes educational goals and objectives. We offer a collaborative team approach and supervision. The positions require excellent oral and written skills, organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, coworkers, families and school district personnel.
