Important Message to Parents 3/30/2020

Dear Families,

We have now received confirmation from New York State Education Department that our school buildings will be closed to students until Friday, May 15th.

While none of us could have predicted even a few weeks ago this dramatic new chapter in our lives, we could not be prouder of the way Center for Spectrum Services teachers, therapists, and office staff have come together to teach your children from their own homes. We are so very grateful to all of you for your faith in our program, your patience during this difficult time, and your courage in this unfolding situation.

Our Family Service Coordinators are in the process of contacting families to find out what technology resources you have at home, what support you feel you need, and when would be a good time for our teachers and therapists to contact you to create your child’s learning plan which will be updated weekly and sent to you electronically or by mail. Your child’s new remote learning plan will not be able to replace classroom learning, but you can be sure we will try our hardest to individualize our efforts to your situation and your child’s learning needs.

Center for Spectrum Services website now has a new section called Important Coronavirus Updates, which has all the latest information related to our emergency closing. Our Family Information Page  has detailed lists of online resources for your child’s education and suggestions for preparing your child for online learning. There is also information on how to access assistance for your family, should you need it. Please let your family service coordinator know about any questions and concerns that may arise.

We are all in this together as a community of Spectrum Services staff and families. We share important goals: continuing to provide a quality education for our students and protecting the health and safety of everyone in our school community. We hope that when we look back on this moment in time, we can say that we confronted this great challenge with shared strength and commitment.

Our very best,
Jamey Wolff, Program Director         Susan Buckler,  Administrative Director
