Our Endowment Fund

Our Endowment Fund

Our goal is sustainable growth, so that we’re ready to pivot when new discoveries in autism are made, or new teaching methods discovered. In order to grow our programming over the decades ahead, and to quickly maneuver the school to handle the many changes that are sure to come, we’ll need your help to secure that future, by donating to the Center for Spectrum Services Endowment Fund. Future children with autism are counting on you.

Create Your Own Legacy

Bequests

Consider naming Center for Spectrum Services to receive all or a portion of your estate through your will. In doing so, you may reduce estate taxes while supporting future children with autism. You may stipulate a specific amount or a percentage of your estate, or name a specific asset. *See below for suggested text you can use!

IRA Charitable Rollover

The IRS allows individuals over 70 and 1/2 years old to roll over up to $100,000 from an individual retirement account (IRA) directly to a qualifying charity like Center for Spectrum Services, without recognizing the assets transferred to the qualifying/charity as income. While this initial provision has been renewed regularly, on December 18th, 2015 the President signed the PATH Act, making this special provision permanent. For more information, Click Here.

Real Estate

Whether it is a home, building or land, you can turn this asset into a charitable gift. If held for more than one year, real estate usually provides the same tax benefits as gifts of securities.

Retirement Funds

Double taxation on retirement plan withdrawals could decrease the value of the asset for your heirs. By naming the Spectrum Services as the beneficiary of your retirement funds, you can avoid taxes and preserve your hard-earned assets for the good of your community forever.

Life Insurance

Perhaps you would like to contribute the proceeds of a life insurance policy to help Spectrum Services, but you are not yet ready to give up ownership of the policy. By naming Center for Spectrum Services Endowment Fund as beneficiary, you retain ownership of the policy and have access to the cash value as well as the right to change the beneficiary. This enables you to make a contribution that may not have been possible otherwise.

*Suggested Text for Bequests: “I give, and bequeath [an amount, a percentage, or the rest and residue of your estate] to Center for Spectrum Services, a New York nonprofit corporation (Tax ID 14-1604884). This gift will be used to [benefit the school, to support the Spectrum Services Endowment Fund].”
