Parent Workshop: Exploring “Heavy-Work” to Address Sensory Needs

Laurie Hopkins, our OP/PT/APE Department Head, will discuss why “heavy-work” activities are so important for creating a child’s sensory flow, and supporting a calmer and more organized nervous system. We will look at specific aspects of processing sensory information that can help to explain why our children seek certain experiences. We will also explore activities to address these needs, and in particular those that be carried over at home. Childcare for the evening training is provided for Spectrum Services students, alumni, and siblings. Presented by Laurie Hopkins, OTR/L – OT/PT/APE Department Head.
