Planning for the future is always challenging, but when you are parenting a child with special needs there are many additional things to consider. For example, did you know that you are not your child’s legal guardian after they turn 18? If your child will not be able to make all their own decisions at age 18, you need to formally begin the process of determining this guardianship. We will also review the 10 Basic Financial Steps for Special Needs Caregivers. Important considerations include protecting government benefits, planning for their financial security, considering special needs trusts, etc. The ABLE Act allows funds to be set aside for an eligible beneficiary for qualified expenses and earnings do not county as taxable income.
Free to all parents with special needs children, but RSVP is required to lsiuta@centerforspectrumservices.org
