Spectrum Services Nets $5,600 at 2nd Annual Fundraiser at “The Local”

Spectrum Services extends its sincere thanks to Wes & Bryn Dier, owners of the local restaurant & bar in Rhinebeck, NY, as well as the many staff and companies who donated their time, products and hearts to coordinate and host the Return of Bob Kirwood’s Famous Benefit Dinner for Autism. This fabulous dining event was held on January 16, 2012 (MLK, Jr. Day), with all of the food and proceeds donated by the local (even the staff contributed their tips!). More than $5,600 was raised to benefit the Center for Spectrum Services. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the event!

Bryn & Wes Dier tell us that they’re going to hold the event next MLK, Jr. Day, so save the date: January 21, 2013!

Get Ready for Our 2012 Phantom Auction!

This spring, the Center for Spectrum Services held our third bi-annual Phantom Auction. In lieu of our traditional auction event, our Spectrum Services friends and businesses will receive an “invitation” asking them to support the Phantom Auction with a donation to the Center for Spectrum Services. This unique “event” spares our agency the cost of a physical location and instead asks you—our friends and supporters—to allow your donation dollars to go directly to those who need it most – our students.

In 2010, our community heard our call and stepped up with contributions that exceeded $25,000! This year, we’re hoping to meet or even exceed that figure. As our invitation read last time, On behalf of the students and families we serve, we extend our thanks to all of our donors and underwriters for their important contributions.

As our invitation read: The auction this year is in spirit, you see / But the funds that are needed for our students are key! / Our success depends on you playing a part / We hope that you’ll give a gift from your heart.

This sentiment is particularly apt today, since our co-founders, Susan Buckler and Jamey Wolff recently received the Heart of Ulster County Award from the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce and the Ulster County Development Corporation for their lifetime of service to families touched by autism throughout the Hudson Valley. We are proud to be able to say that The Heart of Ulster County Beats at Center for Spectrum Services!

Our acclaimed Spring Auction & Dinner will return in 2013.

So, look for our invitation in the mail, and online. And, Don’t Miss Our 2nd Annual Artists for Autism gala classical chamber music event, Saturday, September 29th at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie!

On Saturday, September 29th, the Voxare String Quartet, joined by other internationally-acclaimed musical artists including pianist Inon Barnatan, flutist Eugenia Zukerman, and others will perform at Artists for Autism, a gala benefit concert hosted by the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, New York. This event celebrates our hearts’ endeavor, personified by our co-founders, Susan Buckler and Jamey Wolff who recently received the Heart of Ulster County Award from the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce and the Ulster Development Corporation for their lifetime of service to families touched by autism throughout the Hudson Valley.
We are delighted, and grateful that artists of this extraordinary caliber have offered to donate their talent and time to make this event possible again this year. We thank them and the Bardavon  for what will be not only a gorgeous concert in a glorious hall, but an opportunity to raise public awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as much-needed funds to support Spectrum Services’ programs and facilities.

Tickets: Tickets for the event, which will be held in the Bardavon’s 964-seat theater, are $30, $50 and $100. Purchase of $100 seats includes entry to a post-concert, meet-the-artists cocktail party. Tickets will go on sale in April 2012. Check back for information on how to order.
