NEW DIRECTOR TO LEAD SPECTRUM SERVICES FOUNDATION

Laurie A. Rich, 23-Year Valley Resident, Takes On Execution of Major Fund Raising Strategy to Support the Center for Spectrum Services




KINGSTON, NY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2010
: The Center for Spectrum Services, a state-of-the-art school for children with autism in the Hudson Valley region and the Spectrum Services Foundation, the not-for-profit fund raising arm of the agency, are delighted to announce that Laurie A. Rich has joined the Spectrum Services Foundation as its Director.

Rich will be responsible for implementing the Foundation’s multi-year strategic plan for the development, vision and mission of the Foundation, including its annual and long-term fundraising objectives These include raising $250,000 over the next 15 months for capital improvements, operating expenses and other needs as they arise. She will work closely with the Foundation Board, members of the Center for Spectrum Services Board of Trustees and administrative staff.  Another top priority will be developing and executing on events that celebrate the Center for Spectrum Services’ 35th Anniversary.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Laurie on board,” says Spectrum Services Co-Founder & Administrative Director Susan Buckler. “She brings many years of experience with her, not only as a development professional, strategic marketing and communications expert, but as someone with over a decade of Board service to her credit.” 

A firm believer in community service, Rich has spent the past 13 years as a Trustee on the Rhinebeck Central School District’s Board of Education, five of which were as Board President. She also is Board President of the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Dutchess County. In her professional work, most recently she served as National Director of Business Development for the Clean Technology Trade Alliance, a national non profit agency. Prior to her work there, she spent four years with INFORM, Inc., a New York City-based national non-profit environmental organization, where she was Vice President of Programs and Director of Corporate Development.

For the past 20 years, she has worked as a strategic sustainability, business, marketing and communications consultant for a variety of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups.In addition to her consulting work, she has also run two start-up ventures from birth to successful sale, one of which was an air pollution control technology company. She also is a non-practicing attorney.
 
“Becoming the Spectrum Services Foundation Director is a dream job for me,” Rich says. “It will use all my professional and community service skills and background to help the children in our communities who have some of the greatest challenges. I am excited about really getting started.”

“She’s already hit the ground running,” says Buckler. “She brought in $2,000 from a new corporate donor on her second day with us. We can’t wait to see what she does next!”
