SUNY ULSTER SCREENS THE ASPERGER’S DIFFERENCE |

The Asperger's Difference, a highly acclaimed film for and about young adults with Asperger Syndrome is scheduled to be shown SUNY Ulster in the at The Quimby Theater in Vanderlyn Hall on Thursday May 24 from 1-2:30. Director/Producer Jamey Wolff will participate in a question and answer session after the screening. Increasing numbers of college students with Asperger Syndrome are attending institutes of higher education. On September 29, 2012, Center for Spectrum Services is holding its second annual Artists for Autism gala classical chamber music event. We host this extraordinary concert to raise funds to help us continue to provide the programs and support our children need to achieve their highest potential; and, to raise public awareness of Autism and its impact in our local communities. This year, the event will be at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, New York. Center for Spectrum Services recently partnered with Autism Training Solutions (ATS), an online educational company dedicated to training front-line professional in the fields of autism.

We'd like to share with you the thoughts of Dr. Cheryl Engel, one of our Clinical/School Psychologists, who is also the Head of our Clinical Department here at Spectrum Services. Cheryl provides counseling, social skills and behavioral support services to students and transdisciplinary evaluations. Spring Workshop Series Continues |
|
The last of three Spring Workshops entitled Understanding and Promoting Executive Functioning in Children with Autism will be held on Thursday May 31st from 4:00 to 7:00 at Center for Spectrum Services’ Kingston site. This workshop will focus on understanding how executive functioning challenges present, methods to assess need, and interventions to promote executive skills.
The workshop will be led by Adriane Maier, Ph.D. BCBA-D, LMHC. Dr. Maier is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Clinical Consultant who specializes in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has extensive background in providing counseling, social skills training and behavioral support services to students on the spectrum and is the head Clinical Consultant of the Spectrum Services Clinic where she conducts comprehensive evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorders for people of all ages, consults to school districts and agencies, and teaches specialized workshops.
